Lecture with House Representative Feki Pouha

Tuesday February 16, 2016 the Political Science department had the privilege of having House Representative Feki Pouha come to speak to their students about local government. Topics that were discussed were state laws, including unorthodox laws and how those laws were put into place and why. The protocols to create laws and comprehensive planning involved to make effective bills. The importance of public opinion and involvement with government was touched upon. Campaigning and how to reach out to the public and ways to communicate with the population of Hawai'i. The students were free to ask questions regarding public opinion and how it influenced law makers and campaigning processes. The representative was friendly and open with the students and answered questions frankly and comprehensively.
