Represenative Flake and Wife Luncheon - June 2011

by Michael Murdock

On June 6, 2011, Arizona Representative Flake and his gracious wife Cheryl visited Laie and took time from their busy schedule to visit with the few Political Science majors still on campus. Generous and humorous, the Flakes shared their experience of meeting each other as single young students at Hukilau Beach before later marrying and moving to Washington DC for an internship. Advising our students to work hard, write well, and seize opportunity, the Flakes made a deep impression. Students asked questions about current events and political issues facing the United States today. At every turn the Flakes revealed their role in government to be a model of commitment, competence, and compassion. We are thankful and humbled that they took the time to visit and wish Representative Flake every success in the future.
