Welcome to Political Science The Discipline Political Science involves the study of power and how human beings organize their public life. It employs theory, examines current and historical events,and gathers statistics to reveal patterns and understandings. It draws insights from other disciplines such as economics, history, psychology, law, sociology, and more to illuminate the realm of political and social power. The Students Students of Political Science gain a strong foundation for entering law school, business school, journalism, public relations, the intelligence community, the corporate world, the military, non-government organizations, government service, the foreign service, think tanks, international relations, and a hundred other choices. Students of Political Science often serve their own people as leaders within their own local or national governments. They learn to research, write, orate,and think—highly valued skills in the information age and our rapidly changing world. The Department Located in the newly remodeled Social Science Building, the BYUH Political Science Department has undergone metamorphic changes since 2008. It now hosts six full-time faculty members, each offering distinct expertise in sub-fields such as comparative politics, US government, international relations, Asia and the Pacific, public management, law, and anti-terrorism. The Department also hosts the most engaging and interesting faculty on campus—really!! All pride themselves on excellent teaching and practical-learning programs that offer students hands-on experience. |
